We will be putting on a summer camp for kids entering kindergarten in the fall to teach them basic skills necessary to help them succeed.
We will offer the training in July for 4 Sundays. The Kindergarten Training Camp will provide families with children entering kindergarten in the fall of 2016, the opportunity to strengthen the skills necessary to achieve success in school. The domains that will be covered include: talking, singing, reading, writing and playing. The approaches to learning will focus on: cognitive and general knowledge, physical well-being and motor development, social-emotional development and language development. Group activities will include circle time (which will include story time), centers (which will offer the children the opportunity to work with hands-on materials that involve patterning, counting, writing, sorting and small motor activities. There will also be gross motor activities and a craft area. Each family that attends the various sessions will leave with a brand new book that is related to that week’s theme and some activities for the families to do at home. Some of the themes will be: Health and Wellness, Shapes, Going to School, Plants and Living Things, Counting and Money, and Pizza. (We are working on having the families join us for a free field trip to Pizza My Heart).
