The Problem

The project focuses on removing invasive plant species, particularly ice plant, from the campus environment while simultaneously introducing native plants. Invasive plants like ice plant can disrupt local ecosystems, outcompeting native species and reducing biodiversity. By targeting these invasive species for removal, the project aims to restore ecological balance and promote the growth of native vegetation.

Our Plan

Identified ice plant infestations on campus. Set up tool stations with gear for plant removal. Engaged classes to participate in removal efforts. Scheduled a planting day for native species. Selected native plants suitable for the local environment. Transplanted native plants into prepared soil beds. Established a maintenance schedule for watering and monitoring. Implemented a monitoring program to track progress.
