The Problem

For the first time the children will explore and experiment with indoor gardening using grow lights and possibly hydroponic methods of growing herbs, flowers, and veggies. We hope children will gain a better understanding about what plants need to grow and different ways to meet their needs. We hope by starting our gardens earlier indoors we will produce a larger harvest to share with our adopted community food bank.

Our Plan

We would like to purchase grow lights, as well as other garden necessities by early April for our indoor garden. The children will plant seedlings indoors under the grow lights and begin worm composting for Earth Day. As seedlings progress, the children will transplant the plants and flowers in late May and continue to grow the plants through to harvest in August and the fall months. With each harvest we will share some our bounty with a community food bank.
