The Problem

There is a serious lack of milkweed and native nectar flowers in our state and specific local area. Ranchers and farmers spray milkweed with herbicides and pesticides since we have knapweed, an invasive species and milkweed is toxic to livestock. Montana and Wyoming will play a crucial role for migrating monarch butterflies in the future because of climate change. We are encouraging local businesses and school to plant monarch waystations and to sell, give away and plant loads of Showy Milkweed in our community.

Our Plan

Grow milkweed. Plant a monarch waystation pollinator garden at our school. Encourage other schools and local businesses to plant and establish certified monarch waystations. We will have a farmers market booth all summer to sell T-shirts we designed that say “If you plant it, they will come” along with milkweed seedlings, native nectar flower seedlings, monarch seed kits, bee hotels, butterfly baths and thank-you cards and stickers with our “If you plant it, they will come” design.
