The Problem

To raise awareness in youth about our local homeless population, their struggles and needs. To show them they can have an impact and to empower them to plan more projects, be ambassadors to the cause, do more outreach, engage other youth civically.

Our Plan

Youth will learn about the local homeless population from presentations by a representative who works with the homeless population at the Salvation Army, and from Lee County's Human Services Homeless Liason. THe youth will make cards of encouragement, make 400 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches to go into 200 lunch bags along with a variety of snacks, to be distributed at an outreach event that is held every Saturday to feed the homeless in Fort Myers. We will also distribute new socks, the most requested item, and hope to distribute other items like sunscreen, bugspray, etc. The team will also decide what future project they wish to do next and are expected to be ambassadors--recruiting more youth to be involved in the project they choose to do, and run, next.
