The Problem
The Herr Memorial Library in Mifflinburg, PA has a summer reading theme of "Every Hero Has A Story" and we will be highlighting both super heroes and real life heroes to the children that attend our program ages 2 through teen. We will be opening our summer program with a "High 5 Animal Heroes" pledge and individual hand print signatures on a mural in which children will learn about what it takes to be a HERO to an animal. The overall wish for this project is that the children and their families will be KIND to all animals by providing care and love and being empathetic and compassionate.
Our Plan
Throughout the summer, will be discussing farm animals from the Farm Animal Rescue of Mifflinburg, adoptable dogs from Mostly Mutts, providing food for pets in need from Arthur's Pet Pantry and what service dogs do for Ruff's Pack Readers Reading Program. We will be taking some fun photos of adoptable pets dressing in superhero costumes. After taking some fun photos, they will be used to help showcase the adoptable pets in an eye-catching way by asking the community to "Be a Super Hero to a Super Pet in Need! The children will also help to make donation collection jars and adoptable pet bandanas.
