The Problem

Tanzania’s Hats of Hope This May, Kids Express Learning Center is partnering with Hope2Others in collecting items for the infants of Tanzania, Africa. Hypothermia is a serious concern in this area, especially in the first ten days of an infant’s life. Hypothermia can greatly slow respiration and heart rate to dangerous levels, which can lead to brain damage or even death. Hope2Others is looking for donations of newborn onesies, blankets, and hats, etc. Kids Express After School asks that the donated items be new or gently used and clean before being dropped off at any of the designated bins throughout KELC. Items will then be collected and distributed to hospitals, clinics and medical centers throughout Tanzania. We look forward to giving the gift of hope to the mothers of Tanzania this Mother’s Day and throughout the month! We looks to send about 100 pieces of clothing.

Our Plan

We will collect infant clothing and blankets throughout the month of May. We will place 6 plastic bins with a flyers attached labeling the bins as the Hats for Hope Project. Emails will be sent to all families enrolled at Kids Express, with weekly reminders emailed to parents. Flyers will be posted in each classroom near entrance doors. Parents may drop off the lightly used, cleaned clothing in the nearest bin.
