The Problem
My project is to bring very basic, life-saving skills to the local communities that would benefit the most. Hands-only CPR is known to save lives, and anyone can do it, with the proper teaching. You do not need to be CPR certified, and if you find yourself in a situation of sudden cardiac arrest, hands-only CPR can save lives. In many underserved communities, and those with lower socioeconomic status, there tends to be higher rates of death from cardiac arrest. Teaching simple, basic life-saving in the community, local schools, recreation centers, and churches will improve health literacy for those who may need it the most. I will purchase portable CPR dolls, create flyers, and encourage those who attend to enter a free raffle at the end of the program, perhaps giving out a few gift cards to those who complete the mini-training session. I plan to reach out to my community leaders, teachers, and churches to see if they are interested and hopefully to help spread the word and encourage the local communities to come learn a very important life saving skill!
