The Problem

Pet toys play a significant role in helping animals in shelters by providing physical and mental stimulation, which can reduce stress and anxiety. Shelter environments can be overwhelming for animals, and toys help them cope by offering an outlet for energy and boredom. Additionally, toys can improve socialization, encouraging positive behaviors, and can even aid in training. Overall, providing toys enhances the well-being of animals, making them more adoptable by helping them stay healthy, happy, and engaged while awaiting their forever homes.

Our Plan

I organized a group of 5 kids, ages 10-13, to help create handmade pet toys for animals in the shelter. We made 23 bowties and donated them to two animal shelters. Each toy was made of a few pieces of felt and some cloth scraps.
