The Problem
We acknowledge that high school students of immigrant, first-gen, or underrepresented backgrounds in our community (Bellevue,WA) often lack accessible and timely guidance on short term and long term future navigation. Traditional counseling is often of high cost, overburdened and impersonal, and in some cases information might be out of touch with the reality within the high school environment. We want to reduce the unequal access to resources through creating a supportive, structured and engaging space.
Our Plan
1. (Completed and Ongoing) Hosting student-led high school workshops using personal experiences to help students navigate classes, clubs, and planning for the future; 2. (Completed and Ongoing) Creating a supportive platform where students and parents inquire and recieve timely advice from peers of experience in the same community; 3. Career/Major Workshops: Career-centered workshops with experienced student and professional speaker to share about major and career insight; 4. Community Events (Ongoing): Organizing cultural and community activities to build connections, and create an inclusive space where everyone is welcomed.
