Habitat Restoration Project

  • Location
    Los Angeles, California
  • Status
    Active

The Problem

Our wish for this project is that our campus will become an oasis of native plants in the urban landscape, providing food and housing for essential pollinators and wildlife. In addition to conserving water, these new plantings support wildlife to address the current extinction crisis. In this process, students will strengthen their critical thinking and problem solving skills and increase their awareness as environmental stewards.

Our Plan

Our project will involve students and the school community members in planning, installing and caring for native plants on our campus. We will educate our school community on the importance of providing pollinators and wildlife with a safe place to eat, reproduce and thrive. California native plants will be low maintenance and require significantly less water than non native plants. They will add natural beauty and food for native wildlife year round.
