My wish for this project is to purchase garden plant markers for the native plants that were donated to our school. Our native garden will be used as a learning garden to introduce our local flora and fauna to students that do not have immediate access to nature and wildlife. Having the common and botanical names engraved on the plant markers will complete our native garden and create a hands-on learning environment across the curriculum.
The plant markers will complete a small version of an arboretum right on campus, students can learn about the native plants and the wildlife that is attracted by the flora. Students can create markers for the wildlife that is attracted as well as creating an environmental marker showing water usage and climate appropriate plants. This will be done in my environmental science class during the school year, students could give tours and teach classmates about the native garden.
