The Problem
The project addresses several key challenges within our school community. Many students have limited access to fresh fruits and vegetables and lack opportunities to learn where food comes from or how to grow it. This can contribute to food insecurity and a disconnect from healthy eating habits. By installing a vegetable and fruit garden, we aim to provide students with hands-on experiences that build life skills, promote nutrition awareness, and empower them to grow their own food. Additionally, our campus currently lacks engaging, green spaces that support both learning and reflection. The addition of a wildflower garden will help revitalize underused areas, attract pollinators, and create a calming, welcoming environment for students. Together, these gardens address the need for improved student wellness, environmental education, and access to meaningful outdoor learning spaces.
