The Problem

In low income communities and schools, composting is highly inaccessible. Systems are difficult to buy, and even if a subscription service does service a low income neighborhood, it’s likely prohibitively expensive. Domestic food waste is a huge issue, and everyone should have the ability to compost their food waste and fight climate change.

Our Plan

By converting recycled plastic into 3D printer filament, I am creating small-scale keyhole gardens that are usable in small spaces. Keyhole gardens are designed with a central depository for compost, which supplies produce growing in the outer ring. These keyhole gardens will be provided for free to community members who otherwise may be unable to access any form of composting or gardening otherwise, and in the process, plastic waste will be reduced.
