The Problem

Our goal is to educate people through a fundraising event about meaningful ways they can support organizations that advocate for animal welfare, environmental conservation, and justice for all living beings. By combining education with community involvement, we hope to inspire others to take action and make a positive difference for animals and the planet.

Our Plan

The Roots & Shoots students organized a variety of activities during their Fun Fair on June 17, 2026. Through their hard work, creativity, and teamwork, they raised funds ($801)to support organizations dedicated to protecting the environment, wildlife, and communities in need. The money raised was donated to several organizations chosen by the students, including the Jane Goodall Institute, the National Parks Foundation, Friends of the Earth, K.I.N.D. (Kids in Need of Desks), Whale Scout, and other organizations that promote environmental conservation, animal welfare, and education. The event not only raised funds but also educated our school community about the importance of caring for our planet and helping others through compassion, service, and collective action.

Here is how the project went:

The project was a great success, with tremendous participation from both parents and students. This was our fourth fundraising event at the school, and we typically organize two fundraisers each year. During this most recent Fun Fair, the students raised an incredible $801. The students took the lead in planning and organizing the event, demonstrating remarkable teamwork, creativity, and leadership. They created a variety of fun activities, including games, treats, face painting, and other attractions that brought our school community together. Their dedication and enthusiasm made the event both enjoyable and meaningful, while raising funds to support organizations that protect the environment, wildlife, and communities in need.

Through this project I/we learned:

Two weeks before the Fun Fair, the students began promoting the event throughout the school. They visited different classrooms to talk about the importance of protecting animals and caring for the environment, encouraging their peers to participate and support the different organizations the money was going to. Through this experience, we all learned that with dedication, teamwork, and good organization, we can accomplish meaningful goals and make a positive impact. Seeing the students' hard work come to life and witnessing the success of the fundraiser was incredibly rewarding. More importantly, they discovered that even small actions, when people work together, can create lasting change for animals, the environment, and communities in need.

What I/we might change:

We would add maybe more activities.

My/our favorite part of this project was:

We were able to raise enough money to support each of the organizations selected by the students. Equally important was the impact the students had on their peers by inspiring them to donate and become more aware of the importance of protecting animals and caring for the environment. It was rewarding to see so many students come together to support causes that make a positive difference in the world.

Some tips, tricks or fun facts about the project:

Through fun and engaging activities, students can inspire others to take action and make a positive impact. They learned that creating enjoyable experiences is a powerful way to encourage people to support animals, protect the environment, and become involved in their communities.
