Here is how the project went:

This project went better than I could have ever imagined or dreamed of! It took 5 of us to build a garden area, enclose it from the natural wildlife, building boxes, fill with soil, and plant the growing seedlings. Not only did this particular spot turn out to be perfect but the produce was bountiful to the max. We were able to feed 5 other families all summer long with good wholesome organic food! My children were very much into helping with the garden as well and it even got my teenager out of the home, which is a huge win! Overall we're very pleased with the amount of food we were able to grow and can't wait to do this again!

Through this project I/we learned:

As this was my first big garden I have already mapped out how I want my garden to go next year just from learning how it grew this summer. I'm hoping my new plan will make this even more successful.

What I/we might change:

I will be changing how I water my plants. I learned not all plants like a sprinkler so we're going to look into doing a pvc type watering system.

My/our favorite part of this project was:

Giving food to families in need while not expecting anything in return. The gratitude from those mothers was heart warming! Being able to provide food for children of low income families is a feeling beyond words. I am blessed to have been blessed by Roots & Shoots to be able to provide this to them!

Some tips, tricks or fun facts about the project:

Tip: tomato plants are super dramatic! They do not like sprinklers, who knew, and will get "root rot" if used. Fun Fact: spaghetti squash will take over your garden after a good summer rain!!
