The Problem

With this project, we wished to educate local 5th graders about the importance of biodiversity and conservation.

Our Plan

Members of Duke’s chapter of Roots & Shoots visited the Duke School in Durham, NC to talk to a 5th grade class about biodiversity and conservation. We presented a slideshow covering topics such as primate conservation and the problems of deforestation. The children talked about their experience visiting the Duke Lemur Center, and impressed us with their knowledge of a wide variety of primates.
