We want to honor our local veterans.
Our Plan
The East Jordan Shoe Club, a leadership club for middle school students and high school mentors, worked on a yearlong project to honor our local heroes - past, present and future. Members helped to create a lasting and living memorial for the veterans by raising funds to build Grand Army of the Republic Veterans Park, planned and organized a Veterans Day assembly, had monthly leadership lessons built around the Veterans Star and experienced first hand what it means to be a veteran with a visit to Gettysburg Military Park. Through writing this book and the unique opportunities this project provided, students gained a perspective that will last a lifetime.
