The Problem

The aim of this project is to raise awareness and activism within my school. I and another student, Keegan Jacobs who go to Odyssey Leadership Academy are teaching a class 17 large on ecology, biology, and Environmental Sciences. Specifically, some of the topics we will be touching on are the bee population and entomology, focusing on how important bees and insects are to our food production, daily life, and ecosystems. Invasive species within Oklahoma and how to identify and deal with them. The vast biodiversity and interconnectivity of everything on the planet. And looking at infectious diseases and their impact on ecosystems and health, and many more topics.

Our Plan

Some of the activities we have planned for the class is creating our own garden at our school, going to parks to look at the environment for a more visual understanding of the systems, each student will come up with an activism project to do by the end of the class to present at an end of the term "celebrations of learning" where the public can come and see all that we have done in our class. The class is still in its planning phase so there are sure to be plenty more activities to come.
