The Problem
"EcoSculpt" is a project-based learning experience for high school art students that focuses on sculpting using found materials. This project integrates the 6 R's - Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Rot, Recycle, and Rethink - to not only encourage artistic expression but also promote environmental wellness through responsible consumption and waste management. Students will explore the works of mainstream artists who have embraced these principles in their found object sculptures.
Our Plan
To introduce students to the concept of found object sculpture and its connection to environmental sustainability. To develop students' sculpting skills using a variety of found materials while applying the 6 R's. To encourage creativity and critical thinking through the repurposing of discarded items. To foster an appreciation for mainstream artists who have contributed to the world of found object sculpture while embodying the 6 R's. To promote awareness of environmental issues and the impact of consumerism through the lens of the 6 R's.
