The Problem

My wish for this project is for students to understand the importance of responsible pet ownership, the effects of pet overpopulation, and how strays and abandoned pets affect our community. In addition, I hope that students with be motivated to share what they have learned and develop an appreciation for local volunteer work.

Our Plan

Our student group will plan, budget, design and build dog houses for Paws and Hooves Rescue Foundation. As part of the planning stage, students will visit the Rescue Foundation and determine the size and type of houses needed. They will also tour the facility and meet with the staff and veterinarian to discuss the responsibility of owning pets and how they can assist others in making better choices for their pets. The students will then complete the dog house building projects with the help of a local construction contractor and present them to the foundation.
