The Problem

The Coyote Trail, the only natural area on the campus of Calabasas High School, is severely degraded, littered, and unmaintained. It is an eyesore for most who pass by it every day. The area has little native vegetation, contains plastic and other littered trash, contains overgrown and dead vegetation, and has little to no soil.

Our Plan

To transform this area into a green space, the Calabasas Roots & Shoots Club has used various Roots & Shoots Project Resources to outline and create a project plan. We have created a 5-phase process to clean up the trail, prepare the ground, plant native flora, install drip irrigation, and add finishing touches like an outdoor education area. We are hosting many volunteering events, drives, fundraisers, etc. We are also reaching out to many local organizations to endorse this project.
