The Problem

During COVID, many neighborhood parks had an increase in use, particularly in South Norwalk, an area with a high number of rentals. This NEEF-sponsored grant allowed for 4 Native species of tree to be planted in the park along with 2 additional maintenance-free benches. The grant was matched by City of Norwalk Rec and Parks Department to help cover the cost. The community was involved in the tree-planting and educational programming showcasing the importance of trees.

Our Plan

The tree-planting program took place on June 1, 2021. The benches are on order and set to be in and installed by July 14, 2021.
