Students will participate in a series of authentic experiences designed to broaden their understanding of life in Los angeles. This will include opportunities focused on nature, culture, and their education/career. Our wish for this project is that students will develop a greater sense of self and how their new found aspects of their identity tie into the larger Los Angeles community and its cultural capital.
Students will choose from a menu of experiences making sure to hit each of the focus categories. Students will reflect on their experiences and create a series of blog posts/podcasts/website entires to share their observations. The culminating piece will be to share their feelings and advocate for the broadening of experiences through the writing of a paper, the development of a ted talk and the creation of their own cultural experience to share with others.
