"You don't have a garden just for yourself. You have it to share." I would like to share the joys of this garden for many years to come. My wish is that by growing and expanding our garden it will help to cultivate a community within. My hope is that each grade level will work together to plant and maintain their garden plot. This year we would like to expand the garden. We would like to purchase a greenhouse and more garden materials.
This project will help my school community take action by planting and harvesting. It will get students to compost, learn about nature and our human impact on the environment. I have already reached out to many organizations and received a donation from a local lumber yard to donate garden beds. Myself along with my students and garden committee, have created a garden layout. We have shared our vision with the rest of our school community and our currently transforming our small lawn space into more of a community garden. We would like to build a green house so we can plant all year long. We would like to share our harvest with our local temporary housing shelter. Our project will impact more than 600 people.
