Coat Drive for Immigrants, refugees and our neighbors

  • Location
    Chicago, Illinois
  • Status
    Active

The Problem

We want our school students, families, faculty and staff to recycle their GENTLY used coats so we can give them to newly arriving immigrants in North side of Chicago, who will experience winter for the first time.

Our Plan

3 weeks We need to learn about poverty in our city, learn about immigrants coming to a large city like ours, learn about social service agencies (Care For Real and Pan African Association) and national groups (American Red Cross). Once students know about this, they will make signs to ask others to donate coats to the Coat Drive, They will make signs for outdoor collection, will collect the coats and will sort them. They will help load the cars so we can take the coats. Someof the studnets will take the coats and put them in the clothing pantry at the agency.
