The Problem
My wish is that every 5th grade student will be able to understand how lucky we as Americans are to have clean water always readily available. I want every student to research other countries who have no to little clean water and not only experience empathy for those people, but to be able to work in groups and come up with different ways other countries could improve their clean water resources.
Our Plan
Students will research (in groups) other countries which do not have readily available drinking water. Each group will choose a particular country and will research in depth. Afterwards, each student will research different ways to clean dirty water. Each group will then devise, prove, and then do a presentation on how the water cleaning device works, and if would it be feasible for "their" country to use to clean dirty water.
