The Problem
Virginia Schrantz, known to all as Miss Virginia, was a retired nurse who earned international acclaim for her dedication to helping others. She opened her heart and her home on S Hanna St. to those in need. Her legacy lives on with the Miss Virginia Food Pantry at the same address that provides food at no cost to members of our community. Over the years, Virginia Schrantz' tireless efforts and her firm belief in aiding and caring unconditionally for all those in need have inspired other organizations, schools and individuals across the community to get involved and lend their support to her program. This one amazing woman's vision of ending hunger in our community has since burgeoned into a community wide effort that lends not only physical aid but also a voice to neighbors struggling through hard times. Her legacy of giving and caring is her gift to us all. Because when we choose to give and care it benefits our whole community, both helping those in need and offering us all an opportunity to be a part of making a difference in our world.
