Here is how the project went:

Unfortunately, our plans had to be altered because of the pandemic, so our panther awareness was done virtually, via our newsletter, until last week. We were finally able to go to the Everglades last weekend for some educational fun but the hockey games for the Florida Panthers were unable to materialize.

Through this project I/we learned:

Always expect the unexpected. The COVID-19 situation was an unforeseen road block.

What I/we might change:

Be sure no pandemic is on the horizon.

My/our favorite part of this project was:

Educating the members on how much land each panther should have (20 square miles), vs. what the real amount is. Males will show interspecies aggression if crowded. Many are also killed on highways cutting through their territory. I was nice having our friends become passionate about trying to stop development in the areas panthers need and to try to have fewer car collisions by putting up fences and paths under the busiest roads.

Some tips, tricks or fun facts about the project:

Virtual meetings do work! Zoom calls saved our project.
