The Problem

Let's make caring contagious! Our kids are reaping the benefits of caring for the earth and caring for the seniors in our community.

Our Plan

My group of students set up recycling boxes within the school for materials that could be reused for art projects. After months of collection, we would like to use these recycled materials to create beautiful cards, artwork, and placemats to inspire and encourage the senior citizens in our community. We have an aging population and many who do not have family or loved ones close by. Together our club decided to make videos to play on our school announcements explaining the importance of our project as a way to enlist the help from our entire school of 650 students with the project. We are partnering with a local church, nursing home, and Meals on Wheels with the intent to provide approx. 250 pieces of spring art made from 100% recycled materials to each organization to be distributed to their seniors with love from our school. The items will be picked up by members of the above organizations during our April club meeting. Invited to our meeting are multiple community members speaking on the importance of recycling and philanthropy within our homes, schools, communities, and globe.
