The Problem
The community of Bloomington, Illinois, wants to fix the loss of critical monarch butterfly habitats due to my community's school gardens being consumed by invasive species and harmful pesticides. Gardens in my community currently lack milkweed and tithonia necessary to feed caterpillars and help the migration of butterflies. Additionally, overgrown gardens are depriving elementary students of a place to study pollinators and environmental science.
