We live in an area with a lot of new construction. When making room for the new housing developments a lot of pollinator habitat is being mowed down and destroyed. We would like to establish a butterfly garden, including milkweed as a predominate plant, to offer a safe haven for butterflies.
We have an old, very abandoned plot of land behind our building. It is in need of some TLC but would be the perfect place for a pollinator garden. We have already started to work on this project be getting donations from local providers including dirt and plants. We would like to add a border to the garden as well as some mulch. If possible we would also like to expand the garden to be able to have more flowers along with a place for students to sit and observe the wildlife that come to visit.
