Creating a school garden at our intermediate school grades 3-5 with both culinary plants and pollinators. To generate lesson plants that coordinate with plant and life cycles. Eating what is in season. Importance of pollinators to the environment. Implementing and overseeing the responsibilities of the students germinating, planting, tending, and harvesting the garden. Providing opportunities for students to invite community in to participate in the garden jointly. Potentially sponsor a meal with garden harvest for the community. This is the first year for this project, and we have BIG ideas to educate students, benefit their mental and physical health, and impact our community!
