The Problem

We want to help people with only one hand cook or bake. It is extremely difficult to lift, balance, and transport hot trays around the kitchen and in-and-out of an oven with only one hand without dropping the tray or burning yourself.

Our Plan

We want to create a product that will make this easier. Taking inspiration from tongs, garbage collector devices, other cooking-related or lifting-related products designed for one-handed people, we will design our own product and will work to construct it.

Here is how the project went:

It was successful! Our product worked and was able to lift a heavy tray and keep it balanced while transporting it.

Through this project I/we learned:

While we had many setbacks in our materials breaking, after many redesigns we were finally able to create the product that worked. Every problem can be overcome; there is always another way to do something.

What I/we might change:

We might change the material we used to create the prototype. Currently, we are using Lexan, a type of plastic, but the product would be more reliable and safe with a stronger material such as wood or even metal.

My/our favorite part of this project was:

My favorite part of this project was brainstorming possible solutions to the problem.

Some tips, tricks or fun facts about the project:

Working with groups is always fun, but remember to be open to any ideas and communicate clearly.
