The Problem

With the COVID-19 pandemic, our communities in Hawaii saw significant issues with food security in terms of supply and high costs. Many items on our shelves went out of stock with supply chain disruptions, and foods that were available were nearly double the cost. This year, our kids want to work on raising awareness of food security in Hawaii, and to teach other how to grow vegetables using an aquaponics system.

Our Plan

Our group will lead and aquaponics and hydroponics trainings to teachers and students across Hawaii, and after the training, we will follow up with them via Google Forms surveys to see if they started growing vegetables in their school or homes using an aquaponics or hydroponics setup.
