The Problem

To share our concern for recycling and reusing as we also promote the love of reading for the seniors in a local assisted living facility.

Our Plan

We used recycled book pages to create book marks. The books had been water damaged in during a ceiling leak and we were going to have them thrown away. The damaged books had shiny paper and didn''t meet our school recycling requirements. We removed the covers and cut them into strips to which we attached white strips of recycled paper. The Green Club members wrote messages for the seniors on the strips. We prepared more bookmarks for another club at school, The Monroe Cares Club. They created similar bookmarks for the same assisted living facility. We stressed the importance of helping the community as well.
