Board Game Day for Families at the Library

  • Location

The Problem

We would like to collect over 100 used board games from the community to have a family board game day to promote early literacy skills. We want to attract more than 200 people to encourage family "unplugged time" and also promote good social and literacy skills. We will then donate these board games to area community and battered family shelters to give them time to connect and overcome challenging times.

Our Plan

By attracting a large group from our targeted low-income community, we will be working with families to encourage reading in the home and developing early literacy skills. We will count the number of attendees (targeted at over 200 people with 100 children) and assess their diversity. We will be talking with each person one-on-one and getting feedback on the day. We will also attempt to donate over 100 board games to local shelters to continue the literacy gains.
