Together with my homeroom class, we discussed our observations of our community and found that air pollution is a critical problem. Having the students be part of such a project all hopefully encourage them to be active participants and thinkers who want to improve the lives of many people.
The Air Pollution Community Map will allow users to learn about which areas accumulate the most traffic and air pollution as a result. It will also provide ideas and ways for them to lessen the amount of car traffic and gas emissions. My students will familiarize themselves with their local neighborhoods. They will map out and also survey the areas of heavy traffic in the community. Then, they will come up with ways to improve the air quality in their community.
