We are shocked by the fact that most people don't know about the issues with the Dakota Access Pipeline and the injustice happening to the indigenous communities at Standing Rock. We hope to raise awareness in our high school about hat is happening, as well as donate to the efforts at Standing Rock.
We are going to use the month of December to educate people on what is happening and why it is important. We will go on our high school's news videos, newspaper, and create posters and morning announcements to get the word out. During January, we will sell pins that say "I Stand with Standing Rock" (we figured more people would donate to the cause if they know what it is first). The money gathered from the pins will be donated to the efforts to stop the pipeline and protect Native Americans.
