The Problem
Lack of English education in underserved and low-income communities in many Spanish-speaking countries in the Americas, especially Mexico. Lack of education leads to a myriad of other problems, such as increasing economic disparities between social classes, lack of job opportunities and unemployment, and large-scale Mexican immigration to the U.S., where Mexican manual laborers are pulled into American labor markets, which in turn increases economic disparity in the U.S. as well.
Our Plan
Bring English education to underprivileged, Spanish-speaking communities across the world. Currently, we provide one-on-one English lessons, taught in both Spanish and English, to elementary and middle schoolers in Mexico. We have planned to include virtual discussions in the future when more students join. Moving forward, we plan to reach children in other parts of the Americas, such as in Guatemala, by partnering with one specific under-resourced school in these areas, if possible. Although we do not have any funding/grants now as we have begun only a few months ago, we plan to use the funds to buy school supplies such as dictionaries, books, or perhaps even laptops to support students in need!
