The Problem
My peers and I have learned little about climate change in school, leaving us feeling anxious and powerless. With ACES (Advancing Climate Education in Schools), we’re working to change that. ACES is a NYC-based youth-led initiative where high school volunteers like me teach environmental workshops to elementary and middle school students.
Our Plan
Our workshops turn complex ideas into engaging hands-on learning. We’ve designed activities across 5 themes: Sun, Water, Air, Land, and Human Behavior. Students build solar ovens and pinwheels to explore renewable energy and use upcycled materials for creative projects and through these activities, students get exposed to climate topics and solutions. Plus they have fun!
