The Problem

Without proper tools, autistic children don't have equal opportunity to learn about the planet. Communication boards help non-speaking children and adults learn by pointing to words and symbols. Too often, tools only display basic feelings and minimal physical needs, limiting learning. Accessing tools and care for autistic children is difficult -- 45% of families with autistic children experience delays/limited access. 30% can't get access to autism treatment at all. (NIH.gov)

Our Plan

We want to work with autistic individuals and specialists to develop communication boards that teach autistic children about growing plants and caring for the environment in a positive way. We plan to install and provide boards and informative signage at the garden. This project allows visitors and autistic children to imagine a grown-up life as a gardener or caretaker of the planet. They can even learn to grow their own food with proper tools.
