A Green Garden

The Problem

My students have loved learning about plants and watching the seeds grow in our classroom. As the weather warms up, I would love for my students to observe and compare how plants grow from seeds in an outdoor setting such as an outdoor garden.

Our Plan

An outdoor garden would be more sustainable than ones growing out of pots in a warm classroom. While my students have planted different vegetable seeds in pots and observed a bean plant grow with the fruition of one green bean, I would love to have parents and my students work together to plant, care and observe vegetation grow from little seeds or bulbs. Students would be able to compare and contrast which type of seed would grow best and how each type of plant needs different things to help it thrive, such as more sun, shade, water or extra love.
