Roadside clean up

The Problem

The area around Calamus Reservoir is popular with people and is good wildlife habitat. Because of human activity there is a lot of trash. We pick up the trash along several miles of Highway 96 twice each year. We get $50 each time and donate it to the Switzer Nature Preserve-hosts of the Nebraska Prairie Chicken Festival.

Our Plan

We will clean up the trash this spring, and again this fall. Out group included teenagers and people up into their mid 60s.
