The Problem
We want to give our students access to healthy foods, along with the opportunity to gain school credits in a nontraditional manner. They will be given hands on learning to help them gain credits in English, Business, and Science. We also would like to address the food insecurity that a lot of our student body face when they go home for the weekend and over the summer.
Our Plan
We will be gaining a hydroponics unit to grow all natural leafy greens that will be served in the school cafeteria, handed out Friday's to students who need food during the weekends, and sold to the public at the local Farmers Market. The students will work to write business proposals, write grants, market Viking Farms, and learn about the environment and how plants grow.
