The Problem

Limited access to gardening resources and environmental education for families in our rural community. This lack of access prevents many individuals from learning about sustainable food practices, growing their own food, and fostering a deeper connection with nature.

Our Plan

To create a Seed Library + Literacy Hub at Arrows Farm, where families can access free seeds and children\'s books on gardening, sustainability, and healthy eating. We will build a small bookshelf structure, organize educational materials, and host community events to engage families in hands-on learning.

Here is how the project went:

The Seed Library + Literacy Hub came together successfully, and we are very happy with how it turned out. We are excited for its future and the opportunities it will bring for families and children to engage with seeds, books, and upcoming activities like painting days, book donations, and seed exchanges.

Through this project I/we learned:

Through this project, we learned that grants like this can expand our impact and provide opportunities we might not have otherwise. We also learned that involving our community is possible and powerful—working with a local college student helped with planning, and future activities like painting days, book donations, and seed exchanges will continue to engage families and children.

What I/we might change:

If we did this project again, we might look for more donations and consider ways to create a bigger, even more impactful project. We’re still exploring ideas, but expanding the hub and involving more community members could be exciting next steps.
