The Problem
Every year, millions of printer cartridges end up in landfills, where they take hundreds of years to decompose and release harmful chemicals into the environment. Many households throw cartridges away simply because recycling them is not easy or accessible. This leads to unnecessary waste, pollution, and the loss of reusable materials. There is a need for more convenient recycling options and greater awareness in our community about responsible cartridge disposal.
Our Plan
We are setting up cartridge collection boxes at local schools and libraries to make recycling simple and accessible. Each box will include clear signage explaining why recycling cartridges matters and how individuals can make difference. Once collected, the cartridge will be sent to appropriate recycling facilities by JGIs Roots & Shoots CCA club members. Through this initiative, we aim to reduce landfill waste, promote responsible consumption, and educate our community about sustainable practices.
