The Problem

Although Fremont Union High School District is green-forward, the district has not complied with State Bill 1383 which mandates organizations, including schools to compost organic waste. Moreover, several schools within the district lack any climate curriculum teaching contrary to AB 285 --- this resolution would work to implement AP Environmental Science within all 5 FUHSD Schools, create a composting system, and increase climate awareness within students. To raise awareness about this issue, we have organized several park cleanups locally in partnership with organizations such as Beautify San Jose and Utmost Atmos.

Our Plan

Currently, we are a coalition of around 10 passionate changemakers, including parents, teachers, Assistant principals, students, and previous climate action resolution developers. Moreover, we are collaborating with directors of several local environmental organizations such as the Sierra Club and Climate Action California. We are working to meet with the 5 voting board members and present our resolution in the coming month. If passed, this resolution would create lasting change in the school district.
