The Problem

Discrimination is something many people face every day, whether it’s because of their race, gender, who they love, or just because they are different. Racism, sexism, and homophobia all make people feel left out, judged, or even unsafe. When this happens, it doesn’t just hurt the person, it hurts the whole community because it divides people and makes it harder for us to work together. No one should feel like they don’t belong simply for being themselves.

Our Plan

A good way to start is by building a culture of inclusion, where differences are celebrated instead of criticised. Students can take action by creating awareness campaigns like posters that share positive messages about respect and equality. We can also organise small projects, like a “kindness challenge” to encourage standing up against discrimination. Most importantly, we can set an example by refusing to laugh at offensive jokes, including people who feel left out, and speaking up when someone is being treated unfairly. By taking these steps together, we can create a community that values everyone equally.

Here is how the project went:

I worked on making a poster/flyer to spread awareness about inclusion and respect. It could be shared online or in person.

Through this project I/we learned:

The project went well, but I had to put in a lot of work for it. However, I was able to clearly show messages about kindness, equality, and standing up against discrimination. People seemed interested and I was happy to have educated them on the topic.

What I/we might change:

Next time, I’d make more posters with different messages and try to include more interactive elements, like a question or challenge for viewers.

My/our favorite part of this project was:

My favourite part was seeing people engage with the poster and hearing their thoughts during the presentations.

Some tips, tricks or fun facts about the project:

Keep your message clear and positive, and don’t be afraid to share it with different people. Even a small poster can start important conversations!
