The Problem

Roots & Shoots at Global Idea School is working to educate others about the importance of protecting animals and their environments. Through this fundraiser, students are able to donate money to two organizations that help animals and the environment thrive, while also raising awareness and educating others in the community.

Our Plan

Students meet every Thursday during recess to plan different activities each month. On December 12th, they held a bake sale fundraiser and raised a total of $508. Of that amount, $254 was donated to the Jane Goodall Institute, and the remaining $254 was donated to the Jaguar Rescue Center in Costa Rica.

Here is how the project went:

Students were able to raise $508. Through this fundraiser, they learned how to organize themselves, plan an event, work as a team, and understand the importance of helping animals and protecting the environment.

Through this project I/we learned:

Students learned how to organized themselves, plan an event, work as a team and understand the importance of helping and protecting animals and the environment.

What I/we might change:

This is the third time students from Roots & Shoots have organized a fundraiser to support the environment and animals, so they are becoming very skilled at planning and working together as a team.

My/our favorite part of this project was:

Working together as a team was important, but the most meaningful moment was when the students made the donation with the teacher—the happiness and joy on their faces showed how proud they were of their accomplishment.

Some tips, tricks or fun facts about the project:

What I would like to share is the happiness, joy, and effort students show as they work together and see their accomplishments each month through the activities we do to help the community and the environment.
